If you need to be away from work to deal with serious personal problems at home, you can apply for compassionate leave.
Each request for compassionate leave will be judged individually, but you can use the following as guidelines:
Essentially, if there are unforeseen problems and your presence is critical, you’re likely to qualify for compassionate leave.
To apply for compassionate leave, speak to your manager and explain the situation.
Then go to the SAP Portal Employee Self Service (ESS) choose ‘Leave Request’ ‘comp’nate leave (paid)’ or ‘comp’nate leave (unpaid)’.
The Service Director will decide if you get paid time off, depending on your circumstances.
There’s normally a limit of five days’ paid compassionate leave per year, but you may be able to take more unpaid time off. In exceptional circumstances more paid time off will be given.
