The more you and your manager communicate, the easier it is for your manager to support you. It’s a good idea to have frequent chats about your short term goals, and then review these every three months. You’ll also have a more formal review twice a year to check on how you’re doing.
Our performance management process is called Coaching for Performance, and it’s all about open and clear communication between managers and the people they manage. Everyone should feel able to ask questions and get guidance whenever they need to.
It’s best to have a mix of informal chats and more formal and structured meetings several times a year.
